FDA widens investigation into salmonella contamination

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that it will be widening its investigation into the contamination of peanut products with salmonella.
According to MSNBC, the Georgia based company, Peanut Corporation of America, knowing shipped contaminated products back as far as 2007.
So far in February,
have been added to the FDA’s product recall list.
It was originally reported that product that was confirmed as tainted was not sent out until a second test showed that the products were not contaminated. However, on Friday, that story changed. It was said that product was shipped before results from the second tests came in.
In some instances, peanut products were shipped… prior to having assurance that the products were negative for salmonella.
It is said that there have been nearly 600 illnesses and 8 deaths linked to the salmonella outbreak.
