Team officials hosed down speculation Thompson had suffered an injury, saying he was told not to train because of a stomach virus.
The setback comes as Victory prepare for Saturday night’s A-League grand final at Telstra Dome.
Midfielder Grant Brebner said he expected Thompson to be right in time for Saturday.
“Archie came in this morning but I don’t think he was feeling too good,” Brebner said.
“I don’t think it’s an injury so he should be fine.”

Mark Webber removed nagging doubts over his fitness by completing 83 laps of Wednesday’s test session at Jerez.
Just under three months after breaking his right leg, Webber was in the cockpit of the new Red Bull that was unveiled on Monday.
The 32-year-old Australian, who continues to walk with a pronounced limp, was second fastest of those drivers running the ‘09 cars with a best time of one minute 21.321 seconds, just over half a second down on Heikki Kovalainen in his McLaren.
“There were a lot of questions going into today and I answered them,” said Webber after a trouble-free day for himself and the car.
“From my point of view, it all went better than expected, and to do over a race distance on my first day back in the cockpit, with several weeks to go to Melbourne, is a good thing.”
Kovalainen completed 110 laps as the team focused on the KERS device.
However, McLaren opted not to use the high-downforce 2009-spec rear wing, and instead ran a modified 2008 version, giving Kovalainen a time of 1min 20.799secs.
Kazuki Nakajima clocked up 125 laps in his Williams, finishing narrowly behind Webber, with Renault’s Nelson Piquet Jnr again bringing up the rear with 1:21.908.
Piquet Jnr managed just 49 laps due to a technical issue during the afternoon.
The fastest time of the day again belonged to Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso, just over three seconds quicker than Kovalainen, albeit in a predominantly ‘08 car.

It’s mid- February, and the beginning of spring-like weather is a wonderful time in South Georgia.
It’s mid- February and the beginning of spring-like weather is a wonderful time in South Georgia. The flowers, bushes and trees are beautiful and alive. The temperatures are wonderful for being active outdoors. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. The sun is shining a little more each day — more hours to get your workout done in the day light hours.
Some of us are ready to shed the winter insulation we have gained, in preparation for the summer season just around the corner. We may have had New Year’s Resolutions, but they have dwindled to the side as we have gotten farther away from January 1. What a perfect time to make the personal decision to begin for the first time, or start another exercise program. It is never too late to start a program to improve your physical fitness and quality of life. Spring offers a variety of reasons to decide on an activity that allows you to enjoy the outdoors, like walking, running, cycling and such.
There are plenty of events coming up in March and April that will boost your support system. You will be amazed at how many neighbors, co-workers and members of your congregation are active in these types of events week-in and week-out.
Most Thursday evenings, listen to Talk 92.1 FM for the radio program that will offer an interview with recognized experts concerning the benefits of an active lifestyle. In the meantime, start a program to be proactive and preventative – rather than reactive. Get active. Listen in and become involved on Talk 92.1 FM between 6-7 p.m. You will learn from this program.
The Valdosta Grand Prix circuit for 2009 started on Jan. 1 and continues throughout the year. There are five events throughout the year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day. In each of these events, points can be earned towards overall and age group categories. Four of the five events will have an entry fee of $5 and a cap for a family of $20; however, no T-shirts will be offered. Awards will be given out to overall, masters and the top two in each of 16 age groups, both male and female. The way the points are awarded should keep everyone close in the standings. Be a part of the 2009 Valdosta Grand Prix. In conjunction with this Grand Prix is one designed for the younger folks who run the 1-mile events. Get the family involved in either the 5K or 1-mile events. You will feel the difference.
On Feb. 28, the annual Victory for Victoria run/walks will occur on the Valwood campus. Applications are out, and your family can get involved.
On March 14, the annual Azalea Festival 5K and 1-mile runs will be presented. Applications are available, so come by the Get Active running store to pick one up.
On March 21, the Knights of Columbus present a 5K and 1-mile fun run to raise money for the ACS Relay for Life. Be a part of a wonderful family event that helps raise money to rid of world of cancer.
Events and opportunities in April will be shared in the coming weeks.
If you have questions about your walking, running or other training, drop me an e-mail and I will do my level best to answer your questions. Check out www.getactivevaldosta.com to get connected. Become a member of the GetActiveSouthGeorgia yahoo group with over 119 other people. Listen to the Get Active radio program on Thursday evenings from 6-7 p.m. on Talk 92.1 FM to receive additional information or to ask questions.

BELGAUM: Jogging, walking, meditation
and some gymming. All these fitness activities are part of our netas, who are
camping in Belgaum for the winter legislature session.
The sprawling
lung space on the premises of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, venue for the
session has provided a conducive ambience for the legislators to jog, walk and
gymming. And most of them are utilizing the facility provided by the organizers.
On the second day of their stay in Belgaum, most legislators had
started their fitness activity at 6.30 am. While a few preferred brisk-walking,
some tried working out at the gym and a few others opting to meditate. Former
Union minister and Congress MLC M V Rajashekaran was one of the first persons to
come out of the make shift Legislators Home (LH) and took to nearby lawns for a
walk.
M T Krishnappa (JDS), who is also a fitness freak said: “I
used to play shuttle badminton regularly. However, I could not continue the same
after being elected to the assembly. Since then I have been keeping myself fit
by taking regular walks for 3 to 4 km session.”
Conscious to look
better, most legislators wore good fitness attire comprising branded t-shirts,
track pants, jackets and sneakers. As the weather is chill here, many said, they
could not wear shorts.
N L Narendra Babu, Congress MLA, was found
doing various kinds of exercises.”To maintain a sound body, fitness is required.
This is only way whereday-to-day stress can be relieved,” he
added.
Legislators Belur Gopalakrishna, K M Krishnamurthy and Babu
also took up some gymming work. Chest press, dumbles and tread mill were some of
the exercises they took for the fitness. They were later joined by Belgaum MP
Suresh Angadi.
Prabhakar B Kore, KLE society chairman and the key
person behind organizing this session here said: “My JNMC educational campus
provides all the modern facilities pertaining to fitness. A yoga session every
day, shuttle badminton, ayurvedic massage facility and therapies among others
have been provided.”
C Sudhakar, a Congress MLA, who himself is a
dentist was also seen pumping up his energy through stretches. The legislators
also got the taste of Surya Namaskara and meditation at yoga hall in Neelambika
hall. A master trainer and few assistant trainers were seen lending their
expertise to the legislators.

Venice, CA (
) January 22, 2009 — Latest fitness craze is storming to San Francisco. Kimberly Fowler with her infectious love for fitness and daring is taking on the Bay Area. Kimberly Fowler, the creator of YAS Fitness Centers and Yoga for Athletes®, will be in San Francisco meeting with potential YAS Franchisees from January 28th to the 30th.
“I am looking for people who have a heart for fitness and who want to be actively involved in the franchise. We want people who want to not only run but also be involved in their own business,” says Kimberly Fowler. She continues, “As a YAS Fitness Center Franchisee, you will have an opportunity to truly make a positive difference in people's lives. We care about the community we go into and the world we live in.”
Kimberly proves that it's never too late for a rewarding career change, starting YAS at age 43. Now at age 50 she is in the best shape of her life and is making a positive impact on the world. “A job is just a job unless you are doing what you love, what you are passionate about,” says Kimberly Fowler, YAS founder. “I'm looking for entrepreneurial spirits who want to make a difference in people's lives.”
“YAS is the perfect workout for the Bay Area. It is very efficient, fast and effective. I offer yoga for the inflexible, Type A personalities. It's the perfect balance of the Yin and the Yang,” remarks Kimberly Fowler.
YAS franchise is limited to only 4 locations in San Francisco. In addition to classes, a clothing and accessory line is also a profit center.
YAS is planning on opening 15 franchise locations in California. They will be opening 4 new locations in San Francisco. The YAS creator, Kimberly Fowler, has become the modern face of yoga with her straight-forward, no-nonsense approach to a mystical philosophy.
In 2001, Kimberly Fowler left the corporate world. She went from being COO and general counsel of a $200-million dollar vitamin company to creating YAS. She has transformed herself from a powerhouse in the corporate world to a powerhouse in the fitness world. She is not only the owner of the popular YAS franchise, but she is also the creator of Yoga for Athletes.
as a “fitness diary,” which paints a very accurate picture of what the iPhone and iPod touch app delivers. With an extensive database of food types and nutritional items along with a large variety of exercise types and styles, Absolute Fitness will allow you to track you nutritional intake and exercise levels on a day-to-day basis.
While not the easiest application to get around in, Absolute Fitness certainly delivers value in terms of what it can do to assist you in understanding your eating habits and exercise patterns. The food listings include a comprehensive array of standard day-to-day fare as well as esoteric food items such as Agutuk (an Alaskan dish made with Fish, Berries and Seal Oil) and walrus meat. For repetitive meal eaters, Absolute Fitness delivers the ability to tag food items as favorites as well as group individual food items into custom meals for easier entry and calculation. Exercise listings are equally diverse and include standard activities such as aerobics, jogging, and darts as well as more unique activities including polo, snowmobiling, and jai alai.

The word “free” just seems to chase away some of that gloominess during these economic hard times.
If you’ve been dreaming of a chance to work out for free, that day has arrived.
On Saturday, Feb. 21, from noon to 4 p.m., you can use the track and swimming pool for no charge at Park View Health and Fitness Center in the Mundelein Park and Recreation District.
The free workout is part of national Heart Healthy Month. “This is an excellent opportunity for all ages to get heart healthy,” says Mary Priller, marketing specialist for the center. “February is heart month and even a little bit of exercise can go a long way,” she explained.
The center wanted to offer a free day to help break us out of our winter workout rut.
“This is a way for us to introduce and reintroduce ourselves to the community,” Priller says. “We want people to make themselves a priority and to be healthy and feel good about themselves. We offer swim lessons for both adults and children with a variety of ways to make them feel good in the water.”
If you try the free day and want to come back for more, the center offers a variety of classes including Zumba, Pilates and social dance lessons.
“People need to become more aware of heart health,” says Rose Nudo-Semsak, fitness manager at the center. “We have become a sedentary society where we sit at work then come and sit at home. Exercise is a great stress release both emotionally and physically and studies prove that it actually improves your productivity at work and helps you to become more effective.”
The center will also offer free diagnostics and snacks from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23.
Memberships cost $25 a month for residents and $37 for nonresidents. There is no fee to join. For more information, go to
or call (847) 566-0650.

In the run-up to yesterday`s England game, captain of both England and Chelsea said something that gives an indication just how low things had fallen under Phil Scolari.
“I know I need to improve – my fitness, my game,” he admitted. Now that should ring the alarm bells at Stamford Bridge.
Lest we forget, one of the reasons why José Mourinho`s Chelsea just refused to lose was because they were always fitter than anyone else. Whilst other teams were flagging, during the last quarter of an hour, Chelsea would be running rings around them. Remember the visit to the Mestalla in 2007, for a Champions League semi-final against Valencia? That`s the one when Essien made a lung-busting run down the right on the 87th minute and scored the winner from a very tight angle. Afterwards, (former Chelsea) full-back Asier Del Horno admitted that one of the reasons Chelsea won was because their vigour had brought Valencia to their knees and it was demoralising seeing the fitness levels of their opponents who looked as if they could go on for a couple of hours more. That was how Chelsea used to be … a mere 2 years ago.
And now, Mr Chelsea himself has admitted that he needs to improve his game and his fitness. This is Chelsea we are talking about, and the admission of John Terry, the player who punishes himself more than any other for the blue shirt.
In fact, JT is only confirming what anyone watching Chelsea will have noticed. It explains the reason why Chelsea have dropped points at the end of matches by conceding goals: they simply can`t go on any more whereas the opposition can. Is it any wonder that Robin Van Persie scored two goals going into the final quarter, or that (with Mike Riley`s help) Liverpool scored their two goals in the final 6 minutes? It`s partly because, by then, the Chelsea players are running on empty.
And Chelsea have been looking increasingly clueless. A quick examination of results demonstrates that. JT needs to improve his game, he`s admitted it. The whole Chelsea squad needs to improve their game, individually and collectively.
What is, however, worrying is that the admission comes from the man who defines ‘talismanic` as a leader. If he is lacking in confidence, how will everyone else at Chelsea felt?
According to the legend and reputation accompanying Guus Hiddink, the new gaffer will change this. One of the reasons that he managed to coax such magnificent performances out of South Korea is that his charges, at the time, where simply far fitter than their opponents. Similarly, in his first training session with Australia, the players were left out of breath by the iron regime Hiddink imposed.
We are sure that the Chelsea players will be delighted at this, the opportunity to return to levels of fitness that saw the Chelsea squad likened to elite athletes (and the ability to keep going when the opposition was flagging). In addition, unfit players are more likely to be subject to injury. This is probably a part explanation for Chelsea`s injury crisis under Scolari.
What is worrying is that such fitness levels cannot be regained in a few days or even weeks. Scolari`s training regime was denounced as lax and insufficient, indeed it is rumoured that a couple of senior players spoke to Scolari to demand an increase in intensity. In the 7 months he has been at Stamford Bridge, Scolari has succeeded in reducing fitness to a level that a few days will not recover. And after the Watford game, Chelsea visit Villa Park, home to one of the youngest and fittest teams.
We hope that Hiddink can repair the damage to the squad, collectively, that Scolari has inflicted. He will also need to restore confidence to the players. John Terry is also the England captain. Should he still be short on both confidence and fitness by England`s next fixtures, at the end of March, it might be Fabio Capello`s duty to give the armband to someone else.
