All lanes reopen after accidents shut down southbound HWY 680

The California Highway Patrol reported that all lanes have reopened following two separate accidents, at least one with major injuries, that caused all lanes but one of southbound Interstate Highway 680 to be blocked near Dublin for more than two hours this morning.

Acid reflux and high cholesterol? FDA explores drug interaction

The Food and Drug Administration on Monday said it has ordered the makers of the clot-reducing drug clopidogrel — also known as Plavix — to conduct studies into the possible interaction of Plavix and a class of acid-reflux medicines called proton pump inhibitors. Until those studies have been assessed by the FDA, federal regulators are advising physicians to reconsider whether to start or continue patients on drug therapy that combines the two drugs.

Barry's Kidney Donor Reveled

WASHINGTON (AP) — A longtime friend has been reveled as the kidney donor for former mayor Marion Barry, said a spokeswoman for the D.C. Council member.
Ward 6 resident Kim Dickens is the donor, according to Barry spokeswoman Natalie Williams.
Dickens offered Barry her kidney after he discussed his health issues with her and other friends during his re-election bid last fall, said Williams.

Flat arson woman dies in hospital

An elderly woman has died in hospital a month after arsonists targeted her North Yorkshire home.
Yuen Har Ho, 93, was rescued from a burning ground-floor flat in Newby Crescent, Jennyfields, on 1 November.
The fire had been started deliberately in an outside bin, and Mrs Ho’s family issued a plea to anyone with information to contact the police.
