Diet does not prevent 'odorprint' ID

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 31 (UPI) — Diet may influence odor profiles but does not prevent identification of genetically determined odortypes, U.S. researchers say.
In animal studies, scientists at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia found changing diet ingredients did not obscure detection of underlying odortypes.

Two dead, four critically injured in San Jose crash

Two people were killed late Sunday and four children were critically injured in a car crash at North First Street and Highway 237.
San Jose Fire Capt. Barry Stallard said the two who died were a male and female in their teens or early 20s. Four youngsters riding in the same tan Ford Explorer were rushed to nearby hospitals after the 9:14 p.m. accident.

ICU Medical Q3 Earnings Rise, Top Estimate; Lifts FY08 Outlook

Concern at new 'legal high' drugs

A new family of drugs offering users a “legal high” has been found by researchers in London.
They are based on cathinone, the active ingredient in the plant khat, commonly used as a stimulant in East Africa.
Although cathinone is a controlled substance, scientists say these new compounds have been deliberately modified to circumvent the law.

Jerseyans squeezed by rising health-care costs
