THREE men have been arrested and a gun and drugs seized following the search of a car overnight in Melbourne’s south-east.
Suspected illegal activity in a Springvale car park off Warwick Avenue led to the seizure of small amounts of heroin, ecstasy, and methamphetamines about 1am (AEST).
A sawn-off, double-barrel shotgun and ammunition, including a .32 calibre pistol round, was also recovered.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Two years after South Dakotans rejected a nearly total ban on abortion, voters on Nov. 4 will decide another sweeping but less restrictive ballot measure that would probably send a legal challenge of Roe v. Wade to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A study of 200 men and women found those who had had arthroscopic surgery for osteoarthritis of the knee showed no greater improvement in symptoms two years later than those who received physiotherapy and drugs alone.
The findings appear Thursday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

MONTREAL (AFP) — A legend for helping to turn bodybuilding into a worldwide fitness phenomenon, Ben Weider died overnight in a Montreal hospital, it was announced Saturday.
He was 85.
Weider and his older brother Joe founded the International Federation of Body Building in 1940, and spent six decades promoting the sport once “reviled” as a “fringe activity,” according to a statement by Weider Health and Fitness.

A promising anticancer drug developed by the Christus Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research in Houston is being tested on patients after quickly receiving approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for Phase I clinical trials.
