NEW YORK (Associated Press) – The Food and Drug Administration approved a new drug Friday to treat patients with overactive bladder, a disorder that causes frequent, uncontrollable urination.
Toviaz, made by German manufacturer Schwarz Pharma, helps relax the bladder muscles, reducing the urge to urinate and accidental leakage. New York-based Pfizer will distribute the once-a-day pill.

A suspicious package at a fitness center caused a few tense moments in Salt Lake Monday.
A citizen spotted the package in the parking lot of 24 Hour Fitness, 1121 E. Ashton Ave. (2335 South), just before 11:30 a.m. It was placed between two cars near the tires, said Salt Lake police spokeswoman Lara Jones.

An estimated 1.1 million people living in Harris County in 2005, or 32 percent of the county’s population of 3.6 million, had no health care coverage, according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The pharmaceutical giant Roche has announced a marginal rise in third-quarter revenue on demand for the company’s Avastin and Herceptin cancer medications.
