Southland halfback Jimmy Cowan says being over-run in the final 15 minutes of his team’s Air New Zealand Cup final against Wellington last night was a good lesson.
Wellington is through to its third straight cup final after a come-from-behind 28-19 win over Southland at Westpac Stadium. The Lions trailed 14-11 with a quarter of an hour remaining, before scoring back-to-back tries to ultimately end Southland’s defiance.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Valley Medical Center Foundation wanted its annual fundraising gala to be a truly special event. Saturday night’s “Dancing on Top of the World” certainly qualified on that account.
More than 400 people in black-tie and evening gowns flocked to the beautiful, chateau-like home of Chandra and Narpat Bhandari in the Los Gatos hills, where they took in sweeping views of Silicon Valley and danced the night away Read the rest of this entry »
Fumiko Satake, a 29-year-old Tokyo wife, picked up one bunch of green bananas at a supermarket in downtown Tokyo — not because she preferred unripe bananas, but because that was all she could get her hands on.
“I came to the store early today so that I could get bananas,” Satake sighed. “And there are hardly any here. It has been this way for the past few months.”
The banana has long been a fruit of choice for many Japanese. In 2007, the Japanese Read the rest of this entry »

“Some might argue this is purely a ifestyle drug,” said Michael Inzerillo, corporate director of pharmacy at Continuum Health Partners in Read the rest of this entry »

I empathize with Sara Cole and my heart goes out to her and her family. Can we as a community come together again to help her on her medical bills without her having to sue the town out of desperation?
It is tough on families when the responsible party does not have the necessary insurance or when the health care industry is not up to the task. (In many respects, she is luckier than some for whom there is no insurance at all.) Let’s get the exact Read the rest of this entry »
