Zimbabwe battles mounting cholera crisis

HARARE (AFP) — Nearly 300 people have died of cholera in Zimbabwe, the United Nations said Friday, as health authorities battled to contain unprecedented countrywide outbreaks.

US lawmakers to probe FDA plastic panel's chairman

WASHINGTON – U.S. lawmakers said Tuesday they will look into a possible conflict of interest involving the head of a panel advising the government on the safety of a chemical used in many baby bottles and other plastic products.

Diet drug 'doubles weight loss'

An anti-obesity drug vastly outperforms currently available rivals, early trials suggest.
Danish tests of tesofensine, reported in The Lancet, found dieting patients on the highest doses lost up to 12.8kg (28.2lbs) in six months.
