LUCERNE – A county code enforcement officer arrested over the weekend on several drug-related charges says he was wrongly arrested because he has medical marijuana cards, while sheriff's officials say his arrest was justified due to the amount of marijuana in his possession.

CONCORD — An 18-year-old man was shot in the neck Friday afternoon when he tried to help another man who was being attacked by a group of teens, police said.
The shooting and attack happened in the 1800 block of Laguna Street at 5 p.m., Concord police Sgt. Robert Brady said. The victim happened upon a group of at least three young men attacking an “older man.” That man’s name and age were not determined by police.

A new government system rates nursing homes throughout the country, but administrators at local facilities warn against taking the data at face value.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has created a Nursing Home Compare Five-Star System on its Web site, http://www.cms.hhs.gov/. Visitors can search by ZIP code, state or name to read nursing home ratings and compare facilities.

About 200 customers of a fitness club in south Fort Myers had a pretty good deal. They purchased two-year memberships at the health club Fitness Advantage for $198 plus tax.
The club was a little run down. Many of the machines didn’t work. But it was cheap.
The problem was soon after the club owner sold these rock-bottom priced memberships, she also sold the club.
