Hospital Sued Over Death of Misdiagnosed Cancer Patient

DANBURY, Conn. — 
A lawsuit has been filed against Danbury Hospital by the widow of a doctor who worked at the hospital for more than three decades.
Eleanor Saperstein is suing the hospital and one of its physicians, saying a pre-cancerous condition her husband had in 1999 was misdiagnosed and cost him his life.

FDA Panel Wants More Warnings On Wrinkle Fillers

Product labels on popular cosmetic wrinkle fillers should be strengthened to warn consumers about scarring and other problems that can crop up weeks or years after receiving the treatments, a Food and Drug Administration panel said Tuesday.

Study: TN health care costs rising faster than wages

NASHVILLE – Family health care premiums in Tennessee rose about five times faster than wages between 2000 and 2007, according to a new study by a nonprofit that advocates health care for all.
Premiums for family health coverage provided through the workplace rose by more than $4,000 during the eight-year period studied, according to the Families USA report. That included an increase in both the employer’s contribution and the worker’s contribution.

Ipsen says FDA extends review date for botulinum toxin

CHICAGO, Jan 7 (Reuters) – French drugmaker Ipsen (
IPN.PA
)
said on Wednesday U.S. health regulators have extended the date
to April 13, 2009, for the initial review of the company’s
botulinum toxin of type A product, Reloxin.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration did not issue a
specific request, the company said.
Ipsen also said FDA confirmed that the manufacturing
process for the product in its Wales facility is in
