Providence Health & Services Oregon, the state’s largest hospital system, may acquire Willamette Falls Hospital, a 47-year-old community-based hospital in Oregon City.
Providence and Willamette Falls Hospital have signed a letter of intent and will now enter a 90-day due diligence period.
If all proceeds as planned, the deal will close early next year. Terms were not announced.

According to the results of a new national survey by educational Web site, SleepBetter.org, Americans are losing precious hours of sleep, which may be contributing to daytime tiredness, impaired reflex times, moodiness, a lack of concentration and poor decision-making abilities. WASHINGTON (AP) — Three patients taking a Genentech drug are believed to have died of a rare brain infection, a known risk with the skin-clearing treatment, according to federal health officials.
