WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Washington mayor Marion Barry has been admitted to a hospital to prepare for a kidney transplant.
The procedure comes as Barry is fighting prosecutors who want him jailed for failing to file tax returns. Barry has said his health problems distracted him from filing his taxes. He has been undergoing kidney dialysis.

Police found a bloody car that might be linked to four shooting victims who showed up at a Kansas City hospital in less than 15 minutes this evening.
Police are still trying to find out who shot the victims and where.
The first two victims were dropped off about 6:45 p.m., but the car they arrived in left before police arrived. Their injuries were initially described as life-threatening.
