Less than a week ago, Chris Dewey was in a medically induced coma with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and head. On Monday, his surgeon said he was expecting to release the sheriff’s deputy from the hospital in a few days.

A Spanish man has been charged with importing 30kg of cocaine on a lorry which arrived from France.
The drugs, which have a street value of £1.8m, were found in a load of biscuits at Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port on Thursday.
A 42-year-old man was arrested by UK Border Agency (UKBA) officers and later charged.
