‘Imbalanced’ Indian diet leading to diabetes, hypertension: study

Srinagar, October 16 :
In a severe criticism of the average Indian diet, a study in the coming edition of the prestigious British Journal of Nutrition says that the nutritional imbalance in it is one of the reasons for the increasing cases of diabetes and hypertension in the country. Hypertension is usually an accompanying condition in diabetes and is often present in Type 2 diabetes as part of the metabolic syndrome of insulin resistance.

91-year-old woman found at hospital after being reported missing

A 91-year-old woman suffering from dementia and reported missing in San Francisco Tuesday was found in good health this morning, according to police.
Pilar Subijana was found at San Francisco General Hospital this morning and was reported to be in good health, police said.
Subijana had last been seen around 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of Bryant Street, according to police.
She is expected to be released from the hospital today, police said.

New drugs approved for Australians

Seven new drugs, including treatments for bipolar disorder and HIV, have been recommended for use in Australia.

St. Martin Hospital changes hands

In addition to its work on its home campus, Lafayette General Medical Center is also moving forward with plans to expand into St. Martin Parish.
Voters in the Breaux Bridge area approved the lease of St. Martin Hospital to Lafayette General Medical Center in the Oct. 4 elections.
