Children's Hospital wins state approval for new facility

Children’s Hospital received state approval to build a $480 million replacement hospital on its downtown Birmingham campus on Wednesday.
The State Health Planning and Development Agency’s Certificate of Need Board approved Children’s plans for a 700,000-square-foot, 332-bed facility. Children’s bid to replace its outdated and overcrowded current hospital was unopposed.
