A row over annual fitness tests for prison officers and plans for a two tier
workforce on prison wings threatens to scupper a £50 million deal to
modernise working practices in prisons.

A newborn and its mother were reunited Wednesday after hospital staff and a state-of-the-art security system helped to thwart a kidnapping attempt, police say.
Adriene Johnson, 24, of Nashville, was arrested at Nashville General Hospital at Meharry after posing as a nurse in scrubs and attempting to walk away with a newborn baby, according to Metro police.
