Ranbaxy hires ex-NY Mayor as advisor after FDA import ban

New York, Sept 18 (PTI) Indian pharmaceutical giant Ranbaxy Laboratories has hired former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani as an advisor after the US blocked imports of 30 of its generic drugs citing manufacturing deficiencies.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued two warning letters to Ranbaxy claiming procedural violations at its plants in Dewas and Paonta Sahib in India.

Counselors respond to killings of Porter Ranch family

The Los Angeles Unified School District sent counselors today to Alfred B. Nobel Middle School in Northridge, where 12-year-old Ganesha Rajaram was a seventh-grade honor student. They were receiving students and adults at a parent center. The school’s own counselors were also on hand.

Raid on gang house nets weapons, drugs

Richmond County sheriff’s investigators say they believe a Wednesday morning raid on an abandoned Augusta home has yielded the weapon in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Jezreel Hammond.
Members of the sheriff’s gang task force descended upon the Luckey Street home, which sits within the territory claimed by the Sunset gang, on a tip they received while working that investigation, sheriff’s Lt. Scott Peebles said.

Health clinic planned

A clinic housing an array of medical professionals under a single roof would draw new doctors to the city and provide patients with “one-stop” care, says the head of the group behind the proposal.
