Shreveport officer beaten by inmate at LSU Hospital

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Police say an inmate from the Shreveport City Jail seriously injured an officer Tuesday while the two were in a waiting room at LSU Hospital.
Police spokesman Cpl. Bill Goodin said the inmate was at the hospital for an evaluation. The assault happened in a room on the hospital's third floor.  
Police identified the inmate as 27-year-old Melvin Tyner.
“It was extremely violent.  It was a bloody scene,” said Goodin.

Ark. anchorwoman dies in hospital after beating

Anne Pressly, 26, died at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Margaret Preston said.
