HOLIDAY ISLAND — There is a shortage of doctors and nurses in Arkansas, and that shortage will become greater as the baby-boomers enter their retirement years. Luckily, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) hopes to do something about it by opening up a satellite campus in Fayetteville.

The calendar says it’s 2008, but inside a classroom at the Willows Senior Center in San Jose, it’s all early ’90s, all the time.
There’s Richard Simmons on the small television screen, all big hair and big voice, leading a handful of seniors through a thumpa-thumpa disco-infused routine playing on the VHS recorder.
It feels, well, a little dated. But for the seniors who use this center, the low-tech exercise-to-a-video class is better than nothing.

BANGKOK, Oct 20 (TNA) – Thailand’s Public Health Ministry has launched a plan to strictly control melamine contamination in milk and dairy products, Deputy Public Health Minister Vichan Minchainant said here Monday.
The latest testing has found no melamine traces in local condensed non-dairy creamer and butter, the minister said.

A woman who gave birth to a set of sextuplets over the weekend in Nigeria has died of complications.
Ajoke Bello, 32, gave birth to the six babies by Caesarean section operation on Thursday and was initially in a stable condition.
But she developed complications from excessive bleeding at hospital in Sagamu, Ogun State, south-west Nigeria.

WSU celebrated National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day a day early, holding an All Campus Challenge at the Rec Center on Monday.
The goal of the the event was to total 80,000 minutes of activity at the SRC. Students were asked to participate by logging how many minutes of activity they completed into a computer.
