Health spending takes rising share of US economy

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Health spending will hit $2.5 trillion this year, devouring 17.6 percent of the economy, as the White House and Congress consider major changes to the healthcare system, U.S. government economists said on Tuesday.

NC board investigates mental hospital nurses

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina regulators are investigating nurses at a state mental hospital where a patient died after being ignored for nearly a day.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Tuesday that the state Board of Nursing was investigating at least four nurses at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro. Patient Steven H. Sabock died in April after he was left in a chair without food, water or proper medical attention.

John Sealy Hospital opening today

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) –

Police say man sold drugs to detectives

Metro police have arrested a Bellevue man they said sold them illegal drugs he advertised on the Internet.
Jonathon Arley Bilbrey, 22, was taken into custody Friday after he sold marijuana and Ecstasy to undercover detectives over the past week, police say.
