EPA tightens health standard for airborne lead

WASHINGTON (AP) — Three decades after removing lead from gasoline, the Environmental Protection Agency is slashing the amount of the toxic metal that will be allowed in the nation’s air by 90 percent.

In a major embarrassment to Labor and Health Minister Nicola Roxon, two of the government’s health ambassadors, Read the rest of this entry »

was Utah Valley Regional Medical Center’s operations officer or that she
sat on the hospital’s executive board.
There had still been an accident. Her son was still dying. The on-call
surgeon still wasn’t answering the phone.
“I was frantic,” said the mother, recalling her feelings as she watched
her now-28-year-old son writhe in pain. “For whatever reason, our system
was failing.”
