Vomiting bug shuts hospital wards

Four hospital wards in Hull have been shut because of an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.
Wards 8, 80 and 100 at Hull Royal Infirmary and ward 1 at the city’s Castle Hill hospital are affected.
Managers at the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust urged people who have had diarrhoea or vomiting to stay away from hospital.
Consultant microbiologist Dr Rolf Meigh said spreading the Norovirus infection could cause “significant disruption”.

Heart Failure Hospitalizations Up Sharply

In 2006, an estimated 807,082 men and women over 65 were hospitalized for heart failure, up from 348,866 in 1980 — a 131 percent increase.
