BEIJING (AP) — A 21-year-old woman in central China has been infected by the H5N1 strain of bird flu in the country’s eighth reported case of the disease this year, the Health Ministry said, as Hong Kong reported three birds had died of bird flu.

Three police officers are in hospital after being injured in the line of duty in two separate incidents over the weekend.
Early on Saturday morning, a man in his late 30s was arrested after he allegedly hijacked a black VW Polo in Sunnyside.
During a shootout with the police in the city centre, he shot a police officer in the leg.
Police received a report on a hijacking in Sunnyside around 1am and responded.
