Winter medical myths 'debunked'

It may feel like the aspirin, fry-up or even “hair of the dog” is helping to alleviate that hangover caused by over-indulging the night before.
But in fact there is no such thing as a “cure” for a hangover, say researchers from Indiana University in the US.

Twins Born On Different Days, Years

ROCHESTER, Mich. – A metro Detroit mother gave birth to twin boys on different days and in different months of different years.
Tangernika Woods and her husband welcomed their first twin, Tarrance, at 11:51 p.m., Wednesday, New Years Eve 2008. Their second twin, Tariq, made his entrance 26 minutes later at 12:17 a.m. Thursday, the first day of January 2009.
The babies were born at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester.
“It was a shock!” Woods said.

Pontiac to receive $2 million from hospital sale

North Oakland Regional Medical Centers, a 336-bed Pontiac hospital, was sold today to a large Oakland County physicians group and Flint’s McLaren Health Care system, which acquires a 35% ownership of the hospital.
The deal also calls for the city of Pontiac to receive 5% of any possible profits the new for-profit hospital makes, according to Kevin Tompkins, president of marketing for McLaren.

Search finds gun, drugs and cash
STOCKTON – Trouble grew for a woman arrested on suspicion of forgery on Friday when a search of her home turned up a gun, a large quantity of drugs and a suspiciously large wad of cash, the Stockton Police Department reported.
After the woman, identified as Beatriz Maya, 48, of Stockton, had been arrested police started a probation search of her home in the 1400 block of Lloyd Thayer Circle.
