Bay Medical celebrates with Tree of Light

PANAMA CITY — Bay Medical Center turned on the lights Tuesday for its annual Si Mathison Tree of Light-Season of Hope event.
The tree, at the main entrance to the hospital on Bonita Avenue, is dedicated to former chaplain Si Mathison and serves as a fundraiser for Bay Medical’s expansion project. The event has raised $250,000 in the past two years.

Jackson High School could house the city’s third
school-based health center next fall if the state approves a
grant submitted this week, officials said.

Report: Man was selling drugs

Monroe police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday afternoon and booked him into prison on charges of dealing drugs.
John H. Newton, 3611 Richmond St., Monroe, was charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, a subsequent offense for narcotics, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest by giving false identification.
