The latest outbreak of salmonella bacteria contamination from alfalfa sprouts is responsible for sickening nine people in Washington, some of them in King County, and four in Oregon, the state Health Department said.

DeWayne McKinney, whose journey from falsely convicted prisoner to self-made millionaire inspired thousands, died yesterday in a moped accident in Honolulu.

Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City reported the holiday’s first birth, a boy born at 1:59 a.m. to Maricela Jaramillo and Efrain Areas of Haines City.
Jaramillo said that she was happy the baby was born on Christmas Day.
“I was looking forward to getting to the hospital on Christmas Eve because I was tired with a lot of pain,” she said.
The baby makes nine children in the family. He has four brothers and four sisters.
