Bulgaria Military Medical Academy Inaugurates Laser Therapy Center

A new, modern center for laser therapy, dermatological and plastic surgery was inaugurated Wednesday at the Sofia Military Medical Academy.
The center is under the management of the “Dermatology and Allergy” department of the Academy. The construction works have taken BGN 960,000 while the cost of the new equipment is estimated at BGN 1,5 M.

Health insurance costs spiral

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – A new report says health insurance premiums have increased at triple the rate of wages for South Dakota families since 2000, placing families and businesses at risk of having to drop or significantly reduce coverage.

Lantheus surprised by Definity's inclusion in FDA drug-safety list

Lantheus Medical Imaging says it did not expect its Definity echocardiography contrast agent to land on the FDA’s list of products being reviewed for potential health risks, especially since the product’s safety profile has remained unchanged since May, according to a company official. Lantheus intends to meet with health care providers to address their concerns about Definity, the official said.

King of Pop 'in fine health,' Jackson spokesman says

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN)
— Michael Jackson’s publicist wants you to know that, despite a tabloid report to the contrary, the 50-year-old singer “is in fine health.”
The United Kingdom’s Sun newspaper started a stir Monday morning when it quoted the author of an upcoming book about Jackson saying he was battling a potentially fatal disease that required a life-saving lung transplant.

Investigators point to alcohol or drugs in fatal ATV crash

| An Aurora man was killed Saturday night in Adams County in an all-terrain vehicle crash.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, Shawn Hall, 30, was riding a red 2003 Honda TRX ATV about 9 p.m. on private property on the 3000 block of Converse Road. While driving through a pasture, Hall apparently lost control of the vehicle, which rolled twice and ejected Hall.

Report shows first rise in teen birth rate since 1991

Montana is one of 10 states that saw double-digit increases in teen birth rates in 2006, the most recent year for which statistics are available, the government reported Wednesday.
The number of 15- to 19-year-olds who delivered babies in Montana rose by 13 percent between 2005 and 2006, according to an analysis released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
