AP IMPACT: Suicide spotlights troops' mental care

WASHINGTON (AP) — In 2005, an Army captain in Iraq asked for a mental health evaluation for one of his soldiers, a private first class from North Carolina who was known to put the muzzle of his weapon in his mouth.
The case was assigned to a psychologist who was unlicensed — a common practice in the early years of the war, when the Army rushed mental health counselors to the combat zone even if some weren’t certified or fully qualified.

Two more Indonesians infected with bird flu: health ministry

JAKARTA (AFP) — Two Indonesians living near the capital Jakarta have died of bird flu, the health ministry said on its website Wednesday.
Separately, both went to a market, fell sick in December with high fever, a cough and breathing difficulties and were sent to hospital, according to a statement on the website.

DAC acquires Laurelwood fitness club

Regional fitness management company DAC will open its third center at 426 South Grove Park Road in the Laurelwood Shopping Center.
DAC will take over Memphis Fitness Club’s Laurelwood lease. Financial terms were not disclosed.
. DAC also operates fitness centers in Southaven and Collierville.
Robert Creech, president of DAC, says the company will work to extend the quality and level of service at the new center to match its previous locations.
