About 30,000 people in Santa Cruz County rely on Medicare for prescription drug coverage, and almost all of them will be affected by rate hikes and plan changes that take effect Jan. 1.

Financial Adviser, Pilot Who Allegedly Faked Crash Indicted
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
PENSACOLA, Fla. —  An Indiana financial adviser was been indicted Tuesday on federal charges that he intentionally crashed his airplane in an attempt to fake his death.
Marcus Schrenker, 38, was also indicted by a federal grand jury with making a fake distress call. His arraignment is Thursday. He remains jailed after being released from a hospital.
