Israeli forces split Gaza in two

Israeli ground troops and heavy armour have moved deeper into the Gaza Strip, in effect cutting the territory in two.
Supported by a naval, air and land bombardment, forces have taken up positions on either side of Gaza City, and along a major east-west road.

Zimbabwe cholera cases top 60000 — UN

GENEVA, Jan 30 (Reuters) – More than 60,000 people have been infected with cholera in Zimbabwe, a figure which the World Health Organisation (WHO) had said would be a “worst case scenario” in the epidemic which broke out in August.

4 killed as medical helicopter hits radio tower

AURORA, Ill. – Four people died when a medical evacuation helicopter struck a radio tower late Wednesday and crashed in a Chicago suburb, police said.
The victims included three adults and a one-year-old patient, who was being transported to Chicago’s Children’s Memorial Hospital from Valley West Hospital in Sandwich, NBC affiliate WMAQ reported.

Officials probing if fatal gunshot was self-inflicted

According to a Bartow Police Department report, police officers responded around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday to the XYZ Liquor Store at 295 U.S. Highway 17 regarding an injured person. When they arrived, police found Jamard West, 24, with a gunshot wound to the head.
West was taken by Polk County Emergency Medical Services to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injury.
