MEADVILLE — Within two weeks, the roughly 1,000 people who make a living at the Crawford Business Park won’t have to travel far to get some exercise.
Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County construction crews are putting the finishing touches on transforming some space in the Vernon Township facility into the YMCA Express, a small branch of the Meadville YMCA. The space is expected to open Jan. 5. Read the rest of this entry »
A 33-year-old man was critically injured after suffering two gunshot wounds in Rodeo Wednesday, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s sergeant said.
Officers responded to the area California Street and Trigger Road at about 4:55 p.m. and found multiple casings, Sgt. Keith Chelini said.

WENATCHEE — The state Board of Health has postponed a decision on whether to require local health districts to inspect schools annually for health and safety violations.
The decision will be delayed until lawmakers decide who will pay for the inspections.

Feb. 3, 2009 — A woman’s heart rate taken when at rest is a good predictor of her heart attack risk, a new study shows.
Regardless of other risk factors for heart attack, such as smoking and alcohol consumption, researchers say they’ve found that a simple pulse rate measurement can predict risk of coronary events in postmenopausal women.

DAKOTA DUNES — Snap Fitness, a 24/7 fitness club, has opened its first Dakota Dunes location. The new club is located in a retail center at 317 Dakota Dunes Blvd.
