Walgreen hires health care, consumer goods execs

Drugstore chain Walgreen Co. said Monday it hired three new executives to focus on its consumer goods, disease management and health care services business.
Walgreen hired former Tesco USA’s Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets executive Bryan Pugh as vice president of format development. Pugh, 46, will work on sales of staple products like food, paper and consumables. Pugh also spent eight years with Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

U's Lucia receives encouraging news about his health

Gophers men’s hockey coach Don Lucia received some good news about his health late Monday afternoon. He received a telephone call with the results of a medical test he had taken on Friday.

Clinic OK angers Littauer officials

— Officials at Nathan Littauer Hospital are expressing shock and outrage over the move by St. Mary’s Hospital to open a primary care clinic across the street from Littauer.
St. Mary’s bought Mountain Medical Center, the private practice of Dr. John Glenn, and will begin operating the East State Street facility as a satellite Feb. 2. It will be called the St. Mary’s Hospital Gloversville Family Health Center.
