New inquests into patient deaths

Fresh inquests are to be held into the deaths of three patients whom a County Durham doctor was cleared of murdering.
Dr Howard Martin was acquitted of the murders of Frank Moss, 59, Harry Gittins, 74 and Stanley Weldon, 74, in 2005.
But last year a challenge by the daughter of Mr Moss resulted in a judge ordering a new inquest into his death.

4 hurt at Botanical Garden moved to Shepherd Center

Four construction workers badly hurt in Friday’s collapse of a skywalk under construction at the Atlanta Botanical Garden were expected to be transferred Tuesday to the Shepherd Center.

Shares of Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc. ticked higher Thursday after the company said it plans to send the Food and Drug Administration a response to the rejection of its experimental schizophrenia drug iloperidone.

drug to be approved in over 40 years, an FDA
expert panel recommends.
Currently, allopurinol (trade name, Zyloprim) is the only FDA-approved drug
that prevents formation of the uric acid crystals that cause gout. However,
side effects — including potentially fatal reactions — limit the amount of
