Free health screenings at fitness club

Arnot Health and New York Sport & Fitness will sponsor a “Health Heart, Healthy Body” open house from 9 a.m. – noon Saturday at the fitness facility, 134 W. Water St., Elmira.

Paramedic service changes raise ire

BETHEL — A change in who delivers paramedic service in town and who will pay for it is stirring controversy.
Starting Oct. 1, Bethel will have its own paramedic on duty 24/7 instead of sharing one with Redding, as it has for many years.
The price for the service will rise, but Bethel says it can recoup the extra amount by billing for paramedic service, something it does not now do.

I disagree with section 5 in the Dec. 14 Perspective article, “Dose of Reality,” that large is better than small. The reverse is more realistic in today’s economy for no future health plan will improve the quality of health care in America.
