WCCHC and AlohaCare announce video contest winners

The Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) and AlohaCare have announced the winners of its health and wellness message video contest. Earlier this year, intermediate and high schools across the state were invited to create and produce a 30-second health and wellness video. More than 200 videos were received with 11 schools participating.

NC State Health Plan targets smokers and obese

RALEIGH, N.C. —
State employees would have to stop smoking or lose weight if they want to receive more generous health benefits under a proposal presented to legislators Thursday.

A hospital sponsored exercise program for recovering cardiac patients will close down Friday in Los Gatos, after 23 years of serving scores of people who have had a debilitating brush with a heart attack or a bypass.

Paterson: Extend family health coverage to age 29

New York Gov. David Paterson wants to extend private family health insurance coverage to dependents up to age 29.
The proposal he will introduce Wednesday in his State of the State message would apply to families who have coverage through employers. Although New York doesn’t require companies to cover dependents, it’s common for employer-paid programs to extend to children through at least age 18, and through age 22 if they’re attending college.

Three Arrested, Over $22000 in Illegal Drugs Seized In Botetourt

Botetourt County Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle has announced that three Roanoke residents were arrested and more than 1,100 Ecstasy pills with an estimated street value of over $22,000 were seized Wednesday afternoon by county deputies and Virginia State Police officers in a roadside operation in the I–81 Exit 150 area.
