Fitness can take you far, just ask Alice

Alice Klamer turned 94 on July 8.
I recently met her when she came to the Paul Derda Recreation Center for her fitness class. She proudly unzipped her jacket to reveal a completely matching fitness outfit from “head to foot” (and proud of it). Alice is one of our regular patrons, participating in SilverSneakers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The class is from 9 to 10 a.m. Afterward, she walks 11 laps (a mile) on the indoor track.

Oregon State Hospital workers worry about attacks

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Attacks on Oregon State Hospital staff by mentally inmates
increased last year, raising concerns about security.
In the first 10 months of 2008, there were 323 reported
