TEXAS CITY At least 20 people died in Galveston and Brazoria Counties during Hurricane Ike and its aftermath. At least two of those deaths appear to be drownings.
Autopsies on those people were beginning Wednesday morning now that the medical examiners office in Texas City has power.
One drowning death occurred at the Sandpiper Motel, medical examiners office spokesman John Florence said.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and other illegal drugs on Friday after a Merced police officer searched him in the 1600 block of Ellen Avenue.

Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said Tuesday that the state will receive $150,000 as part of a $7 million settlement Wisconsin and 31 other states reached with Airborne Health Inc. to settle allegations that the company made unsubstantiated and unlawful marketing claims concerning its products.
