Washington University helping with NIH priorities

ST. LOUIS
Washington University in St. Louis is playing a part in work by the National Institutes of Health to set women’s health research priorities for the next decade.
The university’s medical school will host a national meeting from March 4-6 on behalf of the NIH, the Maryland-based federal agency that supports medical research.

FDA wants more Schering drug data

Schering-Plough must turn over more information to U.S.
regulators on its schizophrenia pill Saphris, one of the
drugmaker’s most promising new medicines.
The Food and Drug Administration wants more data from
Schering-Plough’s research on the drug, known by the
chemical name asenapine, the Kenilworth-based company said
yesterday in a statement. Schering-Plough said it won’t
have to do additional studies for the request.

Searches uncover controlled drugs

Detectives investigating the criminal activities of the INLA republican grouping and associates in the north-west have made a drugs seizure.
Controlled drugs, with an estimated street value of £10,000, were found in houses in Strabane and Londonderry on Monday and Wednesday.
Police said their inquiries into the find are continuing.
They have appealed for anyone with information on the supply and misuse of controlled drugs to contact them.
