LESLIE CRISS:Fitness journey continues despite brief hiatus

I've had several calls over the past few months from folks asking for an update on my fitness program.
Perhaps you recall in January 2008 I embarked on a journey that I realize will likely have no real end – because it's a way of life.
I called it Finding Fitness at 50.
Needless to say, I did not find fitness at the age of 50, but I certainly moved closer to it than I've ever been. I'm 51 now and I'm still pressing on.

Kids health and fitness expo coming

Conejo Recreation and Park District will hold a Kids Health and Fitness Expo from noon to 3 p.m. Sat., Sept. 27 at the Thousand Oaks Community Center, 2525 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks.
The expo is free and will feature more than 25 handson activities for children to learn about nutrition and exercise.

Children could lose access to low-cost health insurance

A children’s health insurance program in which about 900 Kern County children enroll each month may stop taking on more kids because of state budget woes.
