Barr, Duramed win FDA approval for LoSeasonique

, said Duramed’s LoSeasonique oral contraceptive has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
LoSeasonique is a lower-dose formulation of Seasonique, an extended-cycle oral contraceptive that reduces a women’s menstrual cycle to four periods per year. Cincinnati-based Duramed and Barr received FDA approval for Seasonique in May 2006.

Vegas hospital transplants get Medicare reprieve

LAS VEGAS—Federal officials are granting a reprieve allowing the only hospital kidney transplant program in Nevada to remain open at least until June.

Baltimore health officials declare influenza alert

With the number of positive influenza tests rising sharply in the city, Baltimore health officials declared a flu alert yesterday. “We’re really seeing sustained transmission of flu in Baltimore.
