New York Islanders defenceman Chris Lee was released from a Florida hospital yesterday and was cleared to rejoin the team. In medical jargon it’s called a fetal omphalocele, and it wasn’t the only defect to complicate the birth of Cyler Nelson on April 7 of last year.

An overnight two-alarm fire that leveled a portion of a fitness center that is a fixture in the tiny Riverside County community of Canyon Lake could have been much worse.
A thick masonry wall that partitioned the fire-damaged area from the rest of the gym and some help from the weather enabled fire crews Friday to prevent nearly $3 million in damage to the Canyon Fitness Center.
