SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.—A Patton State Hospital patient has died 15 days after he was severely beaten by a fellow psychiatric patient at the San Bernardino mental facility.
Gilbert Mendoza was beaten Nov. 24 and the 49-year-old man died Monday afternoon at St. Bernardine Medical Center. The coroner’s office hasn’t determined a cause of death.

papers, I wrote about David Coronado Jr., an infant who authorities say was severely abused and who may be taken off life support. A doctor at Children’s Medical Center reported the infant had 42 separate skeletal injuries.
Some who I’ve talked with wonder if some sort of brittle bone disease, rather than the parents, might be the culprit.

After years of fighting for survival, Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton will close this Spring. Those who live near the hospital are afraid it could be a matter of life or death.

Carlos Daniel Meza, 20, of 218 A S. Broad St was charged with driving without a license and following too closely, after a two-car crash on
at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon, according to Rome police reports.

Fairfield police are investigating a shooting outside a sports bar Friday night that hospitalized a man with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting was reported at about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Delaware and Jackson streets, according to police.
Arriving officers found several bullet casings and expended rounds in the parking lot at the corner of those streets and behind the Sportsman Bar.
