Island woman, 78, killed in collision; two injured
A 78-year-old Grand Island woman was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning in which two other people also were injured, authorities reported.
Merle Shoemaker died at 8:11 p. m. in Erie County Medical Center, about 12 hours after the accident.

Oconee Medical construction to slow traffic

SENECA — New traffic islands under construction will slow traffic at Oconee Medical Center and motorists are being asked not to cut through the medical campus unless they have business there.
Most of the work will occur at the junction of Hospital Drive and Memorial Drive, which are privately owned by the hospital but often used as cut-throughs to avoid the traffic light at the State 28/U.S. 123 interchange, known locally as “Miracle Circle.”
