WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Health care and emergency services workers who might help sick people during an influenza pandemic should take antiviral drugs throughout the epidemic, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in new guidance released on Tuesday.

Pfizer Inc. said Friday the Food and Drug Administration asked for more information on its developing osteoporosis drug lasofoxifene.
The agency is currently reviewing the drug as a possible treatment for postmenopausal women at greater risk of bone fractures. Pfizer did not give details on the FDA request.

A man riding in the back of a pickup and holding a mattress was seriously injured when the truck hit a bump and sent the man and mattress airborne, Grand Prairie police said.
