Zimbabwe cholera death toll soars past 1,500
GENEVA (AFP) — The cholera epidemic has claimed over 1,500 lives in Zimbabwe since August, the World Health Organization said Monday.
Some 1,564 people have died from the disease while another 29,131 suspected cases have been reported, a spokesman from the WHO told AFP.

TEXAS CITY — The hospital caring for a 15-year-old Texas City boy who died as a result of a meningitis infection delayed reporting the teen’s condition to the county’s health district as required by law, health district officials confirmed.

Police: Man Nabbed With $6K Of Drugs

- Police arrested a man Monday who they say had several thousand dollars worth of drugs on him.
An anonymous tip led Harrisonburg police to Quinnon Daniels, 30, around 7 p.m., said Special Agent Tom Murphy of the Virginia State Police, who oversees the local drug task force. Daniels was wanted by Harrisonburg police on an outstanding felony robbery warrant.

University Secures Record Funding For Health And Medical Research

The University of Newcastle has received a record $14.8 million from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
Funding for four research projects into asthma, breast cancer, stroke and mental illness accounts for almost half of the total amount awarded to the University.
