Among the many things Gov. David Paterson touched on in his State of the State Address Wednesday is health care.
One of the governor’s proposals is to extend private family health insurance coverage to dependents up to age 29.
“One out of three New Yorkers aged 18-29 have no medical insurance. That’s unacceptable,” said Paterson.
Elmira College senior John Gardner likes the idea.] Read the rest of this entry »

Those of us who analyze health policy and trends for a living have struggled to follow John McCain’s health plan through its many seemingly-improvised changes. Had JCC not paid his bills, he would have been covered under his parents’ health insurance.
That’s because he’s a college student.
“I did have over $2,000 worth of damage to my leg so I don’t know if I could have handled that myself,” said Cesario.
Cesario is considered Read the rest of this entry »
Even the crustiest reporter can get throat-chokey and eye-misty, and I confess that it happened to me yesterday as a singular moment in American history unfolded on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. But now the alchemy of turning political promises into pragmatic programs begins. I was most interested in the president’s touting of “technology’s wonders to raise healthcare’s quality and lower its cost.” It was just a line in a speech, but reflective of Read the rest of this entry »
