Osteoporosis Drugs May Increase Risk Of Jaw Disease

Washington (dbTechno) – A new study has found that common drugs to help people with osteoporosis actually increase the risk of developing a disease in the jaw known as osteonecrosis of the jaw.
The jaw disease, also known as ONJ, is attributed by pain in the jaw.  On top of that, it can also lead to loose teeth, as well as swelling of jaw tissue and infection.

Medicare to pay doctors to embrace e-prescribing

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The future has arrived for U.S. doctors when it comes to prescribing medications.
Starting next month, Medicare, the federal health insurance program for the elderly and disabled, will offer financial bonuses to doctors who prescribe drugs electronically rather than on paper. Doctors who do not will face penalties from Medicare starting in 2012.

Children’s Hospital changes name to Seattle Children's

Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center has changed its name to Seattle Children’s, hospital officials said Monday.
The change was to reinforce the fact that the hospital is located in Seattle and also is a major research facility, officials said, adding that signs will begin to be changed at the hospital on Tuesday.

Autopsy: Boy had marks all over body

An autopsy of a 7-year-old Easley boy revealed Saturday that he died of massive bleeding from being badly beaten with a broom or mop handle, an Anderson County deputy coroner said.
