Cuyahoga Falls — City Council may change the city’s medical director’s status from independent contractor to part-time employee.

FORT KENT — Fifty-nine employees at Northern Maine Medical Center are affected by cost-saving measures announced Wednesday morning.
Nineteen employees have been laid off permanently while an additional 32 have seen a reduction in work hours, according to a statement released by Martin Bernstein, NMMC chief executive officer.

A Kopernick Street man was in serious condition in Erie County Medical Center on Saturday after he was pushed out of a taxi by the cab driver Friday, police said.
The victim, who is 60, and his brother, called a cab at 5 p. m. to take them home from a bar. The brother had some groceries with him when they hailed a cab on Clinton Street.
