MAGNOLIA, Texas
— Excessive speeding was likely the cause of a fiery collision that killed five people and injured two others, authorities said.
The driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt was driving on a state highway in Magnolia at “an extremely high rate of speed” when it collided with a Toyota van Saturday, authorities said.
“The driver of the van probably never saw it coming,” said Department of Public Safety Sgt. Angela Fountain.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – A national men’s magazine has named St. Paul the No. 2 place in American for men, while a women’s magazine ranks Minneapolis No. 6 overall for women.
Men’s Health magazine ranked 100 cities based on 38 factors, including cancer rates, air quality and the number of gym memberships.

Police chased a car chase through the city at speeds of up to 90 mph while the people inside tried to dump materials used to make methamphetamine late Monday.
Sgt. J.D. Verschoore said the driver stopped after the 13-minute chase and the three people inside the car were arrested. No one was injured.

NIAGARA FALLS — An intoxicated man found wandering and incoherent Wednesday afternoon was apparently the victim of an assault, police said.
The 47-year-old man was spotted on the Hyde Park Boulevard bridge at about 2 p. m.; police said he was very confused.
