Fire in Hammond kills 1, sends 2 to hospital

HAMMOND, Ind. – An apartment fire in Hammond killed a
14-year-old girl and sent two family members to a hospital.
The Lake County coroner’s office says Elizabeth Ann Schnyder was
pronounced dead of burns and smoke inhalation at 2:20 a.m. Saturday
at the Greenbriar Apartments.

YWCA cuts back on subsidized fitness memberships

Dozens of residents of low-income housing and shelters have lost their subsidized fitness memberships at the Calgary YWCA.
